The American Museum in Britain

We went to see Britain's only "American Museum" a few weekends ago (http://www.americanmuseum.org). Yes, a museum full of American stuff...and in this case, at least 2 Americans! The private museum was started years ago with the founding mission of highlighting some unique characteristics of American historical culture. So, there are exhibits on patchwork quilts, covered wagons, American Indians, the Civil War, period furnished rooms....oh, and a teensy little bit about the American War of Independence. The museum is very tasteful and well done - and its slight coverage of the American Revolution is not slighting. (Just given the size of the museum and the scope of its subject, it understandably does not attempt to fully all important moments in American history -- Women's Sufferage, the Civil Rights movement, Vietnam, etc.) Over all, we really enjoyed our visit and experience and would go back again. Oh, and it was fun to see Old Glory flying high outside the museum, too.
