Marksburg Castle

We went to see Marksburg Castle in Germany, one of the oldest still-preserved medieval castles --- and this one can claim it was never attacked. After seeing its impressive bulwarks, strategic defensive positions, huge cannons that could shoot across the valley, and all the pour-oil-and-throw-stones-on-the-attackers defenses, we understood why no one bothered its inhabitants.
